Business Spanish
As we head into a new era of economic globalization, we find
that in order to be competitive, both on a personal/professional
level and at a corporate level, we need to expand our skill set.
Business, in the past often conducted locally on a statewide or
nationwide basis, is now being conducted across the world, without
regard to either the distance that separates the countries doing
business, or the different languages spoken in those countries.
Not only are products traded among different countries: product
made by U.S. manufacturers are often fabricated and assembled in
other countries and more recently, services are provided by them
as well, including in such diverse areas as software development
and technical support.
With the advent of NAFTA and CAFTA, more and more business relationships
are developing between the United States and countries in Latin
America. Individuals and companies with an ability to communicate
and negotiate with people in these countries – in their native
language, Spanish – will have a competitive advantage. Being
bilingual in a business setting not only facilitates communication,
it fosters mutual respect, trust, and understanding, which in turn
can pave the way for developing business relationships.
By studying Spanish in Mexico at Español Universal, you
will be studying in a country in which a huge percentage of U.S.
– Latin American business takes place; you will be exposed
to Mexico-centric vocabulary, Mexican accents, Mexican cultural
traditions, Mexican geography, and Mexican politics, all of which
will help immeasurably in future business dealings.
Our teachers are highly trained
professional educators: they speak and teach the kind of Spanish
– clear, concise, grammatically perfect – that is expected
in business circles. You will learn appropriate use of
formal and informal speech in a business setting, important differences
between spoken and written Spanish with respect to business communications,
how to put people at their ease, how to clearly and articulately
express yourself without seeming too forward or aggressive as well
as other culturally sensitive issues.
Many Latin-American business professionals have an extensive understanding
of English; and yet, if you can demonstrate a degree of competence
in Spanish, you are showing them that you are making an effort,
that you are invested in developing real working relationships with
them. Regardless of the amount of time you have to devote
to studies here at Español Universal, we can maximize your
learning experience by focusing on what’s important to you,
and what types of things are most likely to yield positive results.
"The classes exceeded my expectations. I'm impressed with the
dedication of the teachers and the staff. Everyone is
gracious, conscientious and considerate. When I return to
Guanajuato I plan to take more classes at Espanol Universal."
