How do I get to Guanajuato?
The nearest international airport is located about 45 minutes from the city (airport code is BJX) and is called Bajio or sometimes Leon airport. Taxis are available to take you from this airport to the city of Guanajuato for $25(USD). The school also offers transportation service from the airport in a private car for an amount less than that charged by taxis. For more information about this service please contact us by telephone, e-mail, or regular mail as shown at the top of this page, or indicate this option when registering.

What if I fly to Mexico City?
If you fly into Mexico City there is a five hour bus to Guanajuato that leaves from the Central del Norte bus terminal. If you wish to avoid taking a taxi in Mexico City, there is a first class bus service which will take you directly from the airport to Queretaro, which is halfway to Guanajuato. From there you can make your way to Guanajuato by bus either directly or through Irapuato.

How safe is the city?
Guanajuato is the safest city in the state of Guanajuato. The state is one of the three safest states in Mexico.

What are the people like?
The people of Guanajuato are generally very friendly, especially if you are friendly towards them. Guanajuato has a small town feel. People always greet each other on the street and if you visit a cafe or restaurant more than once you will be treated like a regular customer.

What is the weather like?
At an elevation of 6,600 feet (2,000 meters), the city enjoys a mild year-round climate. The air is a little dry and the mornings and evenings are generally cool. Summer temperatures average 70°F (21°C) during the day and 59°F (15°C) at night. Winter temperatures average 68°F (20°C) during the day and 41°F (5°C) at night. From June to August refreshing late-afternoon thunderstorms often occur daily.

What should I do about money?
We recommend you bring debit/credit cards. Traveler's checks are a good backup and can be cashed for pesos at most banks without a fee. Credit cards are not widely used by restaurants or business in Mexico, but most ATM machines accept foreign debit/credit cards. There is usually a one to two dollar bank fee. U.S. dollars are accepted in many places and there is also a Western Union office in the town.

How much do things cost?
Depending on the type of restaurant, meals cost from three to six dollars without beer or wine. Beers cost one to two dollars in restaurants and bars. Buses cost 25 cents and taxis charge two to four dollars within the city and its suburbs. Mainstream and art house movies cost between two and four dollars. Many music concerts are free, but a symphonic concert costs around five dollars.

Do students receive a diploma?
There is a diploma we present you at the end of your stay. Unfortunately, at this time we can't provide college credit.

Do you have Internet access for students?
The school doesn't provide Internet access, but within the city there are many Internet cafes. In fact, there is one right below the school. Internet cafes typically charge about 10 pesos per hour.

Where can I do my laundry?
There are several locations in the center of the city that will wash your laundry for you. You can drop off your laundry in the morning and it is usually available in the afternoon. They typically charge around 10 pesos per kilo.

Do you teach children?
The school accepts students who are 18 years and older.

Is there a gym?
Yes there are gyms with weights and exercise bikes.

Can I ride a bike or jog in the city?
Because the streets are very narrow it is not advisable to ride a bike or jog in Guanajuato. The most common route for joggers is a road which winds around the valley and has a panoramic view of the city. There are also interesting places to which to hike just outside the city center.
